争取「一纸一退款」

【多伦多信息港】对保守党人头税平反方案表达强烈不满，卑诗人头税家属联盟及华裔加人平权共进会，决定於7月1日国庆日，分别在温哥华、爱民顿及满地可三个城市发动大游行，争取「一（人头税）纸一（笔）退款」，亦即希望苦主的后裔也可获当局赔偿。

200多个人头税后人，昨晚出席在温哥华华埠中侨互助会举行的社区会议，就平反人头税未解决的一些问题发表意见。卑税诗人头税家属联盟及华裔加人平权共进会宣布在7月1日（国庆日）游行，以伸公义，争取「一纸一退款」。 早上11时在中山公园的中华文化中心广场集合游行。

另据报道，满地可华人平反人头税联盟将於明日正午，在满地可华埠旁边的联邦政府大楼集会。联盟共同主席刘海宽表示，魁人党领袖杜锡将在集会上率?，要求总理哈珀就人头税苛例，对人头税苦主的后代子女作出赔偿。他说，当地侨界要求渥太华就每一张人头税纸，向后代赔偿2万元。

与此同时，在加西沙斯卡寸旺、阿尔伯达的多个人头税索偿组织现正「密锣紧鼓」，安排在周五及周六国庆节，分别在满地可与其他多个城市内，举行?第一代子女后人争取合理公平赔偿的「全国抗议周末」。

The fact is, the decedents are not the owners of the head tax papers. Therefore the government paid the offsprings (and to the race) a formal appology, but of course to pay the head tax paper owner a sum of money to compensate their lost.

At the beginning, it was very ethical because from what we understand, what we truly expect is justice and a formal appology. But then now, we only make it sounds like it's all about money. It seems like justice and apology to the race is nothing comparing to money. That's disappointing.

Well, not really, the offsprings and families of the head tax payers suffered because tax payers can't provide for them having to pay for the tax.


In a way, there are the victim of the head tax

So, it is only just they get compensate too

During that time, huge number of us rushed to Canada purely for free benefits; that was one cause to this head tax mistake - to prevent us from coming to Canada. During that time, huge number of us rushed to Canada purely for free benefits; that was one cause to this head tax mistake - to prevent us from coming to Canada. If such history is accurate, it's a hell lot to calculate and to blame.

人头税的血泪轨迹

1881年，加拿大开始兴建太平洋铁路，承建商在中国和美国招募华工，一万七千名华工先后参与铁路建设，其中三千多人丧生。

1885年，铁路建成，联邦政府通过新华人移民法，从1886年元月开始，对华人移民徵收50加元的人头税。随着反华浪潮的高涨，1900年7月，人头税调高到100元。1903年7月，再次修订移民法，正式将人头税调高到500元。当时这笔钱等于一个华工两年的工资。

1923年，联邦政府通过排华法，取代人头税。一直到1947年5月17日废除。

1984年，平权会代表四千余名人头税纳税人争取平反人头税。

2000年12月，安大略省人头税纳税人向法院提起集体诉讼。2001年7月，安省高等法院判定原告败诉。2002年9月，安省上诉法院驳回上诉。2003年4月，加拿大最高法院拒绝受理上诉。

2005年11月24日，联邦自由党政府同华联会签署「不赔偿，不道歉」的人头税解决协议，在华人社区遭到反弹。

2006年6月22日，哈珀代表保守党政府正式道歉赔偿。

If you don't have sympathies, just off doing your stuff. I believe that the offsprings were surely victims. Are you coming for the "free benefits". Any one in this society deserve to be treated equally.
