The furnace price depends on the brand, capacity and efficiency. You have to pay contractor for the installation and old furnace removing. Let me give you my case in 2 years ago:
- Carrier high efficiency furnace (it claims 97%) ~$3K
- Installation labor $650
- Removing old furnace $120
- Climate control thermometer $180
- GST
After installation I got 2 promotion rebate checks ($275x2).

I highly recommend you do it with large vender like Sears. In case there's any problem, you can always find people solve it for you. The insolation in my new furnace was wetted by condensing water because inproper installation of the cooling coil after half year, Sears replace it with a brand new one for me. I don't think any other contractor/store could change a new one for insolation issue.

Do you know if you have a house insurance, can you claim the expenses to the insurance company? Or you have to pay all by yourself?

If it is caused by an accident covered by the insurance policy, you may claim it. I don't think insurance company covers it. You should be aware of 羊毛出在羊身上。 Assume you get accident and claim a furnace replacement, your premium would be doubled or tribled in 5 years.
