A 21-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after she was struck by a car on Baseline Road yesterday. The incident occurred west of the Baseline Road/ Woodroffe Avenue intersection at about 4:50 p.m. Police closed the eastbound lanes of Baseline between Centrepointe Drive and Woodroffe for several hours. Several drivers and cars were kept behind police tape as officers investigated. Residents said people often cross the road mid-block because of the distance between crosswalks. The area is near the Pinecrest Creek walkway, Algonquin College and the Baseline OC Transpo transit station. "People jaywalk in this area all the time," said Elizabeth Juhasz, who lives nearby.
No, he is not Chinese. I saw the girl standing at the sidewalk before the accident. Just cannot believe her life would be changed in just a minute. Really sad. Hopefully, she will get well soon.
