[问题]Garage Door Opener

请问, 在Canadian Tire卖的GENIE牌的Garage Door Openers怎么样? 安装容易么? 我看包装上说如果是Garage的Overhead的门高度是8英尺, 需要个Extension Kit...别的牌子的Garage Door Opener是不是也有这个requirement?

Sears Craftsman garage door opener is more popular and cheaper. A $190 model comes with remote control with rolling code. If you are lucky to get promotion, it may comes with a free wireless keypad control.

If the door is higher than usual, the moving distance is longer. Thus it needs longer chain and rail. For Sears, it supports up to 8 ft door. It needs extension set for 10 ft door.

I have used my sear's craftsman garage door opener for several months now. I am very happy with it. I did a lot of research before I bought this opener. I was initially interested in the Genie brand. But I found some negative comments on it. It seems like the main problem with Genie is that the chain storage case (which is made of plastic) tends to break easily (usually after one year of use from several reviewers). So I do not recommed this opener. Chainberlain is actually the best brand in garage door opener. There is one onsale now at homedepot for $150. Good luck with your purchase!

I'm using Craftsman. It's not bad. However, its gear is made of plastic also. I don't know Chainberlain. The plastic gear lasts 15-20 years if nothing wrong. Adjust the tracks and wheels to make the door moving smoothly. It can make its life longer.

我看中了CT的GENIE牌的Garage Door Opener,它有两个遥控齐器, motor保养10年. 售价才$160. 我也看了HD的Chainberlain牌有两个遥控器的那个,要$190.

Please be aware of the plastic gear is the weakest part. Both a friend and my house changed openers because of the damaged gear (Mine died at 16-year old, my friend's died at 25-year old). Both motor were still working. For this reason some vender claim 10 years warrenty, even life time warrenty. The cost (part+labor) for changing the gear is $150.

You really should focus on the weak portion and the major features when you select.

我只打算用个6到10年。。以后再换个新的。。（反150刀都快可以买个新的了， 说不准10年后， 都不兴这个啦）。。。

我只是看看有没人用过这个牌子, 而且它在卖特价么:blowzy: 我的几个朋友都是买了SERAS的CRAFTSMAN牌...可偶看了一下, 同样OPTION的要贵$40呢.. 要是GENIE牌的没啥, 偶可就能省就省啦...
