Wednesday, November 15, 2006
Classes will be open today at Carleton University
Management and the Carleton University Academic Staff Association reached a tentative contract agreement at 4:30 this morning.
The union representing 826 professors, instructors and academic librarians had set a midnight deadline to reach a new contract.
The two sides had extended two strike deadlines overnight as negotiations continued.
Terms of the deal will be made public after ratification of the contract.
The main issues in the dispute had been workload, salary and benefits.
The union claims Carleton's faculty is the lowest paid among Ontario's comprehensive universities.
