请教各位：大门朝南vs后院朝南

现有一房型，南北朝向（正南正北），主卧室在车库上面，朝向大门；两个小卧室和楼下的客厅饭厅朝向后院。请问这样的结构宜选择大门朝南还是院子朝南？如果选择院子朝南，那和它同一朝向的客饭厅会不会因终日阳光照射而窗帘紧闭，反而失去了窗外的view？tinted windows会不会滤去部分阳光？谢谢！

It is never too hot but too cold in Ottawa for most of Chinese.

Our first house had the same layout like the one you described: master bedroom was above garage (facing south), kitchen and family room were at the back of the house (facing north). When we spent time duing the day in the kitchen or family room in winter, it was cold because there was no sunshine. When we slept in the master bedroom during the night, it was cold because it was above garage.

Our second house has kitchen, family room and master bedroom all at the back of the house, facing southwest. There is lots of sunshine during the daytime in winter. It is perfect. We haven't experienced summer in our second house but we don't worry about it too much.

With backyard facing north, you could water your backyard lawn less while still having good lawn view in summer.

我之所以有这样的疑问是因为我过去一直住公寓，恰巧房屋朝向都是朝南（高层），而在我的印象中因为白天阳光直射厉害从来没有拉开过窗帘（除了少数十分阴沉的天），也就无缘窗外之美景了。我去看过后院朝北的房子，冬天正常时候朝北房间采光还是不错的，的确也不需要关窗帘，但是屋内温度低确实也是个问题，不容忽视。看来甘蔗很难两头甜啊！

For me the best one is backyard facing east south. That way the sun will pass 2:00 to 3:00 pm for your family room and you driveway which is at otherside of house will have good sun shine at afternoon, this helps vapor some ice at winter.
