Bamboo question

Does anybody know that if bamboo can survive in Ottawa winter? Where can you buy bamboo?

Last time when I went to Chinese Embassy, I saw some plants outside along the road where you can park the car. Since it is winter, I couldn't tell what plant it is. Does anyone know if it is bamboo?

Also, if anybody installed bamboo floor? How is it compare to the hardwood floor, the feeling, the looking and the price?

adv.
water resistant
durable material
harder than wood, not easy to scrash
disadv.
bouncing sound (bad acoustic value)
little bit expensive than wood

so better use in high traffic area in the house. or radiate heated room.

Really? From my research, not much, it is a little cheaper than the hardwood floor...
