My guess is that the possibility of price drop is slim...
I'm from T.O... So, in my opinion, property price is pretty reasonable in calgary even if it has doubled in the past year.
According to RBC affordable index. Canada national average is getting better in 2006.Because of income increasing. And ottawa is also getting better. It is the most affordable large city in canada.
Since ottawa has the largest stable employer in canada, the federal goverment. In last 25 years the house markert is very stable too.
There are some variation in the city, like in 2000 to 2003 kanata price rase faster than Barhaven, now Barhaven rise more faster than kanata. Orlean did not do very well comparing to kanata and barhaven since many new commers are English speaking prefer west or south side of city. http://www.rbc.com/economics/market/pdf/house.pdf
the construction cost will rise up next month. Therefore the building permit fee and other fee that associated with the construction cost will rise up as well.
I think the price will adjust to cover the increased cost.
I just don't understand, everybody say House price pretty stable at Ottawa, why a single house with 4 bed rooms price from $180,000 at year 2000 increase to $330,000 this year in Kanata.

That's not bad, only 9% increase every year. The $330K price is only the asking price (I saw your other post), so the real increase will even be lower.
Compared to the house price in Calgary (doubled in 1 year), or in Shanghai, or in Vancouver (several years ago), the increase in Ottawa is slow.
My idea is: if you want to buy a house for living, buy it when you need. If you want to buy and sell it to make money, it is better to go to other cities.
