I think so. They said this 500 for a team with 12 members includes rent for the gym, referrees, tophies, lunch for the volunteers, and printing cost for the tournament.Though I think even if you win the game, you buy a medal for yourself actually.lol

$500 is too much,people come to this game for fun and exercise, we don't need a NBA referee!
I remember last year's tournament only cost us $180 each team.
Keep in mind the teams from other cities will cost more on the hotel and dining.
So,I am not going, and I think lots of players are not going neither

Last year, 30+ volunteer referee’s time was put in, and ONLY rent one gym.
Three Ottawa teams went to Toronto last year for the Tournament and registration fee was $500 plus hotel...

i'm willing to bet that 2/3 of the money goes straight into their pockets. they say that the $500 includes the trophy, and lunches for the volunteers. WTH! they are the organizers. if they want volunteers they should pay for their lunches. and also, if i organize an event i can't tell people that they will have to pay for the prize that they win, if they win at all, that is.

ok... volunteers are not getting paid right? so the only expense is lunch... lets say they hire 90 volunteers for 3 gyms, 10 dollars per lunch. So it's 900 dollars. Lets say renting 3 gyms for 3 days is going to be 1000 dollars... Thats less than 2000 in total. Which is only 4 teams' cost. Im sure there will be more than 4 teams... where does the rest of the money go? How much are the medals and print papers gonna cost??
