Quebec provincial police said Wednesday they've recovered a Norco bike belonging to nine-year-old Cédrika Provencher, who disappeared Tuesday night in Trois-Rivières while looking for a missing dog.

Police found her grey and white bicycle behind a garbage dumpster on Dubé Street, about two kilometres from where she was last seen riding her bike alone at about 8 p.m. ET Tuesday night.

Volunteers and police have since intensified their search in a residential area between Des Chenaux and Chapais streets.

Cédrika was supposed to be home by 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, but never showed up.

Her parents called 911 immediately and dozens of people are now helping investigators with search efforts, said Trois-Rivières police spokesman Michel Letarte.
