Security lockdown lifted at 3 Ottawa schools

A security lockdown was lifted Thursday at three Ottawa-area schools in the city's south end, where a police tactical unit arrived after receiving two suspicious persons calls during the lunch hour.
Students were barred from halls and common areas while police secured the following suburban schools around Alta Vista Drive:
At about 12:30 p.m. ET, police received two calls about two men entering the school, armed with guns.
But there were no reported injuries, and no signs of any shots being fire at any of the three schools.
"All three schools were cleared simultaneously by tactical and patrol officers and no injuries occurred," police spokesperson Cst. Isabelle Lemieux told reporters.
"There are no suspects, and at this point we're still investigating the incident."
Lemieux said the callers did not stay on the line, and neither of them gave descriptions of the men.
The Ottawa police department's tactical unit, along with patrol officers, secured the scene.
Some students told CTV News they saw people playing with paint ball guns earlier in the day. But Lemieux said police cannot confirm that report, or whether a paintball incident may have sparked the security lockdown.
Sharlene Hunter of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board told CTV Newsnet that students were barred from the halls and common areas while police investigated. Police closed a portion of Alta Vista Drive for about two hours.
