I agree. I am from a high-tech company where there are a lot of chinese employees. One of us has confirmed with Canada Red Cross there is a 1-1 match from government. You can also get back 40 dollars for every 100 dollars in terms of tax return. This means that for every 60 dollars you donate. 200 dollars would be transfered to china Red Cross institution.
In my opinion, I would donate half to China Red Cross directly and the other half to Canada Red Cross. This is because going through China Red Cross is faster as we all know and going through Canada Red Cross could maximize my donation. Imagine we donate 1 million to Canada Red Cross. The government would take out 1 million. That is a lot already. No matter if you work or study here, we have contributed to Canada by different ways. I hope this is a CHANCE for government to repay and thank what our chinese have done to this country. I am sure some friends might have a concern about how this money would be processed by Canada Red Cross. I believe it is going to be slower and not 100% efficient. It might not be 1->2 when our Red Cross receives our donation, but for sure it is going to be more than what we have donated. This is why i am also putting half of my donation to Canada.
