Girl Dies After Incident at Wave Pool

The City of Ottawa will conduct a full investigation into the death of an eight-year-old girl at the Kanata Leisure Centre.

The girl died at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario after being found floating face down in the wave pool at the complex Saturday night.

Parks and Recreation Manager Gilles Parent tells the Ottawa Sun the investigation will be conducted to give the girl's parents answers they deserve, and to see if there are any lessons to be learned.

The girl was attending a birthday party when lifeguards spotted her face down in the pool. The city says the waves weren't on at the time she was noticed. If an autopsy shows the girl died from a drowning, it would be the first incident in the history of the Kanata Leisure Centre.

Leave a 2-3 years old child away. THis parent should be punished.

好像8岁是大人是否必须陪伴小孩的界线。

Does not matter how old of the child. The parent should be close to her enough if she couldn't swimming.

我多次看见过Kanata Wave Pool的救生员们放开了聊天说笑。都是半大的孩子，哪能真把自己孩子的性命交给他们啊？

今天从报纸上得知了这个新闻，震惊加悲哀。因此告知全家，要吸取教训，大人小孩都要小心。尤其是小孩，不能觉得自己会游泳，就开始不注意安全了。记得有一句老话说“淹死的都是会游泳的”。

客观的说，救生员中也有很负责的。但作为家长，不能把自己孩子的安全寄托在别人身上。

今天早上看到新闻了，当时有5个救生员在场，都没人看到，直到女孩尸体趴在水面，才发现，送到医院就死了。

那个Wave Pool在有波浪的时候，深的地方根本看不到底部，而且每一次造浪都有好几分钟。估计是被浪卷入了水底。

可怜的女孩。她的家人该有多么悲伤。

无论大人小孩在造浪的时候都应该小心。

不管孩子会不会游，游的好不好，在像Wave Pool这种地方都要给穿上救生衣，家长也不能离他们太远！
