plywood vs. ditramat

我家是地砖地板混合的，Builder建议把地砖下的plywood换成ditramat，说是可以让地砖和地板减少高度差。
一共要$2000，值得做吗？

Does anybody else have bad experience with the Schulter Ditramat?

Our tile contractor installed tile on the Schulter Ditramat. One week after the install we noticed popping tile, one month alter the instal a tile broke, now 6 month later we have three cracked tile, many places where the grout is coming out from between the tile and nobody is willing to take responsibility. Does anybody else have bad experiences with Schulter and the DITRAMAT subfloor system?

请教各位，plywood和Ditra Mat的具体差别是什么？Google了半天，也没明白。

是不是ditra mat,桔色的塑料垫? 好象是用大头钉把铝网固定在subfloor,水泥找平后铺砖的做法更普遍些.

*** read page 23 carefully *** ----- Ditre Mat still suggest to add plywood sub-floor.

However, I would say whether use ditre mat or not, you still need a stronger sub floor first, if not, you will still have issues like cracking tiles. I have about 1000 sqft tiles in my main floor installed by Home Depot's contractor with plywoood subfloor. No cracking tile or grout issue at all. They had only added additional 1/2" plywood subfloor with tons of screws to the original floor.

By the way, $2000 additional for how many sq ft? what is the area for wood and the area for the tile? You should go to home depot ask for the increasmental price between plywood subfloor and ditr mat to see if your builder over priced or not

According to Ditra Mat, your installer may have used wrong thin set, the normal mix, not the ditra mat custom mix.
