question for those who work at fed gov

Hello,

Have you ever received a letter stating "the documents you submitted as proof of age do not satisfy our requirements" for Superannuation? In China, we don’t have birth certificate ,so we usually provide the Notarial Certificate of Birth when we applied for immigration or citizenship. It’s so weird the Superannuation doesn’t recognize it. What did you do for gathering those documents or should I just ignore this letter? I would really appreciate your experience.

I think your original Chinese passport issued by the Chinese government is your official birth(date) certificate (document) at first hand. If you are already Canada Citizenship, your citizen card and associated citizen document (or your Canada passport) is your official certificate. Good luck!

No, you should not ignore the letter if you want your application approved. The DOB on your citizenship card or on your passport is not viewed as a proof. You need to explain your situation to your HR and ask for other options. You may end up in need to get a certificate from a Justice of Peace. It may cost you tens of $.

I know that someone used the copies of his Canada citizenship card and document (maybe include his Canada passport) to pass the security clearance. It should be working, because your employment history and your education shown that you are an immigrant in Canada, not bored here. Good luck!

Thank you for the response. Do I need to have a Commissioner of Oaths to sign the statutory declaration? The statutory declaration forms are attached to the letter and cost $35 per page at City of Ottawa to have them signed. Is there another way around?
