difference between doula and midwife

Thanks so much for useful information you provided. I called the phone number but you were not in the office. My due date is August for second baby. I think I have to go to hospital because my placenta cannot get out automatically for my first baby. I had terrible experience for my first baby, I am worry about delivering baby from both of mental and physical aspects. So I would like to ask for midwife accompanying me to hospital during delivering my second baby. The receptionist told me all are full and suggested me to find a doula. My questions are first is there really no space in August? Second if there is really no space for August, then do you think for my case is it useful to hire doula? Which doula is better? I got three phone numbers, Canadian mothercraft (7281839), Shannon Mcfarlane (2860870), and Julie Keon (16136469912).

Hi, To answer your question:
1,Yes, there is no space in my clinic now for August.
2, In your case, it would be a good idea to have a doula to support you in labour. I have been worked with Julie and Shannon before. They are very nice and passionate with women's birth. They are always full booked... but it worth to call anyway.
Mothercraft will be provide which doula is available in August for you...
You will always have interview to choose your doula.

Ok, here I am to answer your question.
1, 家庭医生 (family doctor) usually don't do prenatal care and delivery the baby. Most of them will reffer to an OB or a RM (Regestered Midwife).
2, About the fee: all docotor and hospital will have to charge the non-Canadian patients. Depends on the visit time and level.
3, Midwife in Ontario have a special program that support non-Canadian patient. So midwife do not charge any fee for useing midwifery cervices.
4, Midwifey space for the client are very limited, please let me know when is your due date, if you consider use midwife.
