刚刚装了iTalkbb。效果还不错。打国内很清晰。很多人在网上抱怨这家公司，其实是冤枉他们了。顾客自己有很多问题。我倒是愿意帮忙设置。我不是托儿

我们已用了3个月了，真的很不喜欢。打中国确实很清晰，但本地通话时常断断续续，回音很重，像是在好远的空间里对话。偶尔发现不用计算机时效果好些，从此一接电话，就要把 internet 关掉，很讨厌的。最近正想拆掉它。如果你能帮忙设置好，Why not use it. 不管你是不是托儿。

你的ATA是在Router前面还是后面，ATA在前面的话，你

把QoS设成TBF，这样router就会把优先级给voice packet。 如果ATA是在router后面，你的router要有QoS功能。

Just wanna share with you how my setup is like at home. First of all, I used Rogers as my ISP, 7M speed. I connect Roger's modem to the ITalkBB router first, and then connect my home's wireless router behind the iTalkBB router. My home's computers are all connected to my home's wireless router. I am not saying this is the best approach, but it works for me. Note: when I do BT download, I still have to stop it when I want to use the phone, but regular internet browsing has no problem.

我来说两句吧，看我的网名就知道我是搞这个的。
我１０年前就开始搞VoIP了，可是现在家里还是用的bell的电话。主要是VoIP还不具备像家庭用户提供服
务的网络。现在各个VoIP运营商都有自己的服务器，和到PSTN及移动网的网关。但互相没有漫游业务。拿
iTalkbb来讲，它的媒体服务器和PSTN网关很可能在中国。因此你的电话如果打到中国，首先，你的那个电话适配器把你的电话模拟信号转成数字信号（第一次２／４线转换），这个数字流到中国后，在媒体网
关落地，进入ＰＳＴＮ网（４／２线转换）。由于中间没有太多的缓存，你的电话延时比较小，因此在你
那个适配器和ＰＳＴＮ网关里的回波消除会把回声消掉，你的声音质量还是可以接受的。但如果你打到本
地，由于所有的电话号码都设置成了国内的号码，你的声音流首先被streaming到国内的媒体服务器，然后再转到北美的服务器（我是这么猜的）。中间的延时和缓存大大增加。那些回波消除电路通常也就能消
除几十到几百毫秒的延时。延时超过３００ms，就基本不起作用了。因此你感觉像唱卡拉ＯＫ。你可以试
一下，打国内的移动电话，声音也不太好。主要是又经过一级２／４线转换和编解码。
那VoIP没市场，你还搞什么呢？现阶段主要是搞企业级别的设备。这些设备联网以后，媒体流可以直接传
到被叫方最近的媒体服务器。如果是在ＶＰＮ里，还可以从电话传到电话。因此效果很好。
什么时候VoIP家用电话才能用呢？等什么时候iTalkbb和Bell, Rogers有VoIP漫游协议，共享网关。(3GPP IMS实现了) 此外服务商还要认证家用配套路由器。如有的网友说的，路由器也是接不着电话问题之一。
此外，那些说只有断掉Internet质量才好的网友，检查一下你的每一个电话是否都装了那个电话滤波器？
应该不会是这样的。

You also need to turn on the QoS settings; Otherwise it would not be different that the ATA is in front or behind the router. You could also use the ATA (which is also a router, SPA2102) as a router by setting your own router in bridge mode.

The ATA (SPA2102?) provided by iTalkBB is a ATA/Router that can be used as router. It has QoS function. You can connect the devices as

modem-->ATA SPA2102-->Wireless (or wired) router-->computers

If your ATA is a SPA1000 series, then you have to place it behind the router, and your router needs to have QoS functionality.

You Bell modem may have router in it already. Check if it can do QoS (most likely it won't). In this case, set your Bell modem in bridge mode, i.e., disable the router functions and use it as pure modem. Then connect the ATA to the modem and use ATA as the router.
