What is the cost of a plastic bag? Take a guess, for Ikea, how much money does it collect on plastic bags at the price of $0.05/each in a month across Canada?

Grocery stores can collect much more than Ikea stores, for sure. Keep in mind that this is extra money on top of their net profit.

Ontarians used more than four billion single-use plastic shopping bags in 2007. That would equal $0.05 x 4,000,000,000 = $200,000,000. Correct?

I would fully support a legislation outlawing plastic bags/sheets to be used for shopping and packaging purposes.

You are right. Business is not my major and I am no businessman. Besides, everyone else is smarter than I am, I know that.

有一点不明，你我说的是两回事情吗？我是支持或者反对塑料袋收费吗？　我想，我是在回答一网友，如果塑料带收费的话，是一笔不小的收入。仅此而已。

顺便说一句，Ikea收的塑料袋款，都捐出来种树。

其实商家是被迫的，他们一向不在乎这个cost，而是现在多数被迫执行这个政策，‘在意’一下不重复使用购物袋的environmental cost 吧？有些店早就开始给不用他们塑料购物袋的客户一点减价，几分钱吧。Tim Hortons不是也给拿他们家的咖啡杯去买咖啡的客户优惠吗。
其实很多人用塑料购物袋当垃圾袋至少再利用了一次这些购物袋，算是省了专门的垃圾袋造成的环境代价。 不知道计划实施的绿色垃圾箱今年秋天能否实施。自己家有条件的把能分出来积肥的，进黑箱蓝箱的，剩下的普通垃圾量减少还是很可观的。
不过， 改购物习惯，自己带购物袋还是需要时间重新培养习惯的。经常要结帐了才想起来忘了袋购物袋。

不知道，当年加拿大没有塑料袋的时候，垃圾都是如何处理的。是不是也像中国农村那样，每个村都有几个积肥的大坑，家家往那里倒垃圾呢？

不会回到那样的垃圾处理方式吧？

在夏天，那个所谓的绿色垃圾箱或者家家都积肥的容器，会不会使整个渥村到处都散发着特殊的气味啊。

学会用瓜果菜皮做堆肥，不勤快的话就在院子里挖个坑埋了，另外不管有没有塑料袋夏天都要先将鱼肉废料放冰箱冻起来，等收垃圾的那一天再扔，不然放哪都很难闻。其它的纸张和并罐各有各的回收箱，还能有多少垃圾？

最好用专门做肥的容器吧. 埋院子里会招小动物来刨的.

你说的对，开始埋在地里几天不见了，我还以为是化在地里了，去年，听坛友说小动物会吃的，我才恍然大悟，是被动物吃掉的。今年我想试试埋深些。
