ebay is fine if the charge for shipping and handling is reasonable.
Reasonable being less than $10 US.
I was looking thro' ebay a few weeks ago for the laser refill or cartridge and I came away disappointed. Most asking for $15 or more.
Also, the refill you buy better be good for your cartridge as you can't get the refund.

However, I also heard someone told me that in some cartridges, HP has embedded a chip to prevent you from doing that.
My suggestion is go to one of the malls I mentioned to ask, they will tell you. For example, mine is a HP m1522, and they told me I am better buying an after market cartridge as the refill does not work very well for this one.
