Woman Pinned Under SUV As Accident Shuts Busy Intersection At Rush Hour

An accident left one of the busiest intersections in the city closed at the height of rush hour Wednesday and a woman in hospital after a terrifying crash.
She wound up trapped under an SUV at the corner of Eglinton and the Allen Rd., not far from Bathurst around 4pm. Crews were forced to lift the vehicle off of her while she waited in fear and pain underneath it, as firefighters stood helplessly nearby.
It's not clear what caused the accident but the effect on traffic was clearly apparent within minutes. Police and emergency vehicles crowded the already clogged area, leaving the roads at a standstill.
Officials warn it could be several hours before it's fully reopened, forcing drivers to find alternates that are already swelled with traffic.
