I did it 2 years ago. In winter it was fine. But in Summer, they adjusted your room temperature to 26C, and you can't make it lower. That is the first floor temperature, the 2nd floor was very hot, I couldn't bear it. so I bought one myself in Canadian Tire only around $30, and changed it myself.

My opinion: no use at all.

:thanks:
那我就不考虑了。

No. I couldn't change it at all. Very frustrating at that time.

26C is not too bad. The thermostat is the touch panel type with quite a bit of programing flexibility. For example you can set the fan to on, off, auto and circulation. The circulation feature is great, it will turn the fan on once a while regularly. This will help to keep the house temperature evenly everywhere.

If you really want to override the thermostat or even stop Hydro from controlling your Thermostat, you can simply cut the antenna off from the thermostat. The antenna is located right next to the USB port on the right hand side of the display at the back.....

Or when you feel it far too hot, blow some hot air to the thermostat to trick it and get the AC work.........

but really why! Be responsible! 26C is quite reasonable, worst come to worst turn on a few fans and keep the furnace fan running. I set my AC to 24C with the circulation on. As long as you can keep the humidity low...

I felt it is cold enough for my house.

cut the antenna off from the thermostat:confused::crazy:

Or you may open your window(s) at first floor to let AC keep cooling? But, I did not do any of these, I felt it was cold enough for my house by my AC's working in the last hottest days.

What is the temperature shown on your thermostat at a hot weekday afternoon?

If it is more than 24, I will think twice.

If you want to make contribution to saving electricity (thus better environment), join the program.

We had this installed over a year ago, to tell the truth, we can't tell the difference so far. We typically keep it at 23-24 degrees. Many factors may help you decide if this is right for you:

- orientation of your house, if your house gets lots of exposure, it'll absorb more heat
- family size, obviously if you have elderly at home you may have to run the A/C all day long
- your heat tolerance, some people are comfortable with 24-26 temperature, some like it cold. I for one don't mind opening the windows up to get some breeze after being blasted with 8 hrs of a/c at work..:-)
- lastly, if you are really environ conscious and think of those sweating in the middle of a heatwave while others are cranking their a/c up at full power, this is prob. a good deed to avoid a blackout and make everyone happy..:-)
