lazy man's way----just let it be.
For some high end window with special gas between glasses, they would be some R value lost. For most of regular grade window there is almost not change of R value and the air tightness. They just looks bad with fog inside. But over the the time, there is more sealing broken. It has the same effect of drill a hole on outer glass. Not prefect but is ok for most of time.
The design of the window today, My guess is try not to make it last forever , so they can has endless business. The sealant would broken , just when. The reason is when window is under the sun. The temperature rise. as it is sealed inside, so the gas pressure inside would rise too. It basically like a tennis ball, the gas would break the seal eventually.
