Hi everyone,

My corolla 2001 has a mileage of 145K, I heard some people said it need to change timing belt around this time. When I search the web site, it seemed there is no timing belt for 2001. Instead, it has a timing chain.

With the timing chain, some said it needs to be replaced; others said no. I searched toyota canada web site, it seemed there is no mentioning of replace of timing chain/belt for 2001 model.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Check the book that should come with the car, you can find the answer.
My car is 2000 Honda Accord, the book shows the timing belt should be changed around 167k.
Good luck!

NO .Time chain is inside the engine, made of steel and lubricated by oil, It does not need to be replaced. Corolla engine switched to timing chain since 1998. It does not need replacement.

Many car use time belting. It is outside engine and rubber. It needs to be replaced.
