don't wait for assesment, go to cheo first word front desk, ask for private speach therapist list, call one by one, find one for your son.
the cost can be covered by insurance.
send your son to see them, they have way to let your son start to talk.
your son need intervention now.

我老大是儿子说话也很晚，也没去幼儿园，上了Jk后好多了，但是在语言方面还是比同龄的小孩子逊色。老二是女孩，跟着哥哥看Treehouse，动画片，21个月送去daycare，语言方面和其他方面都比哥哥强。通常老二说话比老大早和好都是正常的，因为有老大带着，所以为什么老二都比老大聪明。

尽量抽时间睡前讲故事，在你做饭的时候让小孩看看电视动画片，多带小孩跟别的小孩子一起玩。

估计你孩子的听力应该测过, 如果听力没有问题, 可能有点心理障碍. 只好等专家. 如果是听力的问题, 也许要早点配助听器.
我自己是听障人士, 以我的经历, 不管孩子有什么问题, 父母要报平常心好.
