AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core ZM-82 (2.2 GHz) vs. Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 (2.0 GHz)

Not true to both statements.

Either CPU could be used in desktop or laptop.

Back to the original question. You normally don't choose your system based on the CPU alone, RAM, HD capacity etc. (I am talking about a pre-built system here), so you need to look at it as a whole.

Um...
Other than those half-laptops, I don't think Laptops can support the power and thermal requirements for a i7

I did come across one, but it is 12 lbs:D, so it is a big stretch.

Here is one link: AVADirect Clevo D900F Core i7 Laptop reviews - CNET Reviews

However, I won't recommend one buys one though.

To LZ, either chip is fine so you would decide on the features to make your choice.

P.S. If you have a particular system or systems (for comparison) that you have in mind, put it here so we could give you more opinions.

I built a Core I7 system for a friend a few months ago, so I know computer a bit.

i7 is by far a superior design, but that doesn't make it the best deal. Also yo don't compare i7 with Turion's, you should compare it with the Shanghai because of their process nodes.

Turion and C2D Mobile are on the same scale, I have no idea why i7 is even mentioned here...

thanks guys, i really appreciate it :thanks:
the AMD machine has a better graphics card, therefore i think i'll choose that one over the intel
i only wanted to know if the intel chip was significantly better than the AMD
