The demand for professionals in social science research is very high in the Capital region. Beside governments, a lot of organizations, such as NPOs or NGOs that have a branch or even headquarters in the Capital region, need social science researchers. French may not be very important in the social science research world. Most reports need to be written in English first because they then could get a wide range of peer review. A report can later be translated to French if required. So, for most organizations, French for a researcher in social science is usually not a necessity, but English is it. The required level of English may be beyond what we usually think in other working environments. How-to-Write-a-Report is not a matter of English vocabulary or grammar, it has somethings to do beyond a language itself. Actually, you should have already known all these or you may have a different opinion because you were in the business of social science research. I don't know this business very much but just try to analyze it.
