The Canadian Red Cross Society values your financial contribution in support of our important humanitarian mission. Maintaining public confidence in the manner by which we manage your financial gifts is critical to the Canadian Red Cross and its Board of Governors.
Following donor intent is of paramount importance to us. In the event of an appeal for funds following a disaster or crisis anywhere in the world, Red Cross undertakes a number of initiatives in order to ensure the best possible use of a donation — be it private, corporate or government in nature.
We establish a Fund to protect the donations collected and ensure that they are used for the intended purpose. When, in the discretion of the Society, there is no longer a need or ability to serve a particular Fund purpose, the balance of any capital funds standing to the credit of that Fund purpose will be made available to support responses to disaster in any part of the world, as required in the discretion of the Society. We commit to our donor base that surplus funds will not be used for any purpose other than for victims of other disasters, be they local, national or international. Updated February 1, 2008
