Engineered hardwood flooring is hardwood veneer on top of plywood. Veneer is no more than 5mm thick.
True hardwood flooring is usually 3/4 inch solid wood.
Other than a bit more work on installation, why would anyone go for engineered flooring? Pricewise, the difference is minimal.

仍然不太明白, 大家都觉得true hardwood flooring比Engineered hardwood flooring要好些, 可是为什么我手里的报价单上, 其他因素相同或相近的情况下, 反而Engineered hardwood flooring更贵了呢?

Exotic wood is for the rich. However domestic wood is usually more durable. I love maple, ash. Oak is Ok but too common now. Walnut and cherry are very pretty. I used ash and with the right stain it is nice. Not too many people use ash. Actually ash is as hard and tough as oak. It tends to be a bit boring in texture when compared to oak especially in its natural form.
I like Engineered hardwood flooring a little more. It is more stable than solid wood, and you get exotic wood which you wouldn't be able to afford as solid wood. Most Engineered floor still OK for resurface once. Solid wood may be two for three times. But seriously how many people resurface hardwood floor, every twenty years may be. The process is expensive and dirty.
Whatever your choose, remember to keep few pieces floor just in case you need to replace a spot due to damage latter.

engineered的木头对湿度，温度的要求不高，比较稳定。
据说硬度还高点。哪都能铺。
宽度的选择上也多点，还有5’’的呢。
实木的就敏感一点，特别是maple。我去barwood看过，engineered的确实要比实木的贵。
