瑞荣绘画教室学生和他的
2016年“中国寻根之旅”点滴
这里的根意味中国文化。
我是张宗凯，我的爱好除了绘画还包括游戏和足球
虽然时间已过去几个星期，可是在北京经历的“中国寻根之旅”夏令营活动仍然记忆尤新，历历在目。作为“水立方杯”加拿大唯一入选的才艺选手，有幸参加了由北京师范大学承办的2016年“中国寻根之旅”魅力北京艺术舞蹈营。这个历时十天的夏令营包含了来自世界各地的18名才艺选手，他们是在本国乐器、歌舞、书画和演说等方面的佼佼者。
这次夏令营活动主要包括两部分，向海外成长的青少年有机会接触北京的著名的旅游景点和基本的中国民族舞蹈艺术。该计划的一部分包括人才济济的艺术，以学习和比赛的形式参与了包括视觉艺术，钢琴，长笛，武术，跳舞。北京著名的旅游景点，包括中国的长城，故宫，颐和园，天坛等等。我不仅欣赏的一些中国古代的和现代的（鸟巢和水立方）雄伟的建筑，我也学习的中国传统的舞蹈艺术和风格，其中包括蒙古舞，藏族舞，傣族舞。自己没有舞蹈的基础，不用说，学习这类民族舞蹈具有多大的挑战性，但我还是设法从我们的专业舞蹈老师的由浅入深教诲中领略到了一二中国博大精深的舞蹈艺术。
夏令营主办方想的非常周到，各方面的条件非常好。包括机场接机，安排在国际大酒店住宿，以及一日三餐和每天的充实和有意义的活动的安排。我本来是不太喜欢户外活动的，但这次夏令营却改变的想法，我很是向往这种欢声笑语的活动安排。
我的室友来自乌拉圭的代表，人非常友好，我们马上成为的好朋友。从他身上我学到了好多有关乌拉圭生活习俗和传统。例如，乌拉圭的教育体系与我们加拿大不同，中等教育系统就分了专业和方向，这使得学生专注于学习的一个特定领域像科学或数学，以便学的一技之长，走向社会。就像我的室友，其他的营员小伙伴们也都非常亲切和热情。我们很快成都成了好朋友。有缘千里来相会，在临别之前，我们都依依不舍，互赠小礼物作为纪念品。
这次在营员活动的经历对我很特别，也很新鲜。比如，住在酒店的时候，我和其他小伙伴们住的很近，距离他们的房间只有几步之遥，我可以随时去找他们聊天。这种经历对我来讲很新鲜，因为在加拿大，因为地广人稀，社区分的很开，我的朋友都住的离我很远。我常常不得不乘公共汽车或者求父母开车去朋友家，有远的通常需要一个小时在路上。在这儿和朋友聚会太方便了，连几分钟都不要。其次，我们每天的饭菜都是开放的自助餐，其中包括几十种的荤菜和素菜品种。虽然偶尔会去外面的餐厅就餐，但这种每天的奢侈是不可能由哪个家庭提供的。第三，每一天的计划将被各种各样的有趣活动挤得满满的，有时是参观的旅游景点，有时是学习、摹练新的民族舞蹈，时常一练就是三个小时。从天天好玩的北京营员生活，到天天学习和少有娱乐的加拿大高中生活必将是一个艰难的过渡。
虽然我很伤心，我永远不会看到其他人再次参加训练营的，他们生活在世界的两端的原因，这个夏令营是绝对了不起的，如果我再有一次机会，我肯定会再去。
但愿这种活动越办越多，让更多的我这样在国外出生、国外成长的中国人的后代有机会接触中国的文化。
I am Bill Zhang and I have been an artist for 5 years. My hobbies include playing games, drawing, and soccer. Recently, I was given a chance to travel to Beijing, China and take part in a ten day summer camp which introduces tourist attractions and basic Chinese dancing to its students from all across the world, including me. Part of the program includes rounding up talented people in the arts, which includes visual arts, piano, flute, martial arts, and dancing, by use of competitions. Some of the tourist attractions we experienced included The Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Heaven Temple and much more. Not only did I experience some of China’s greatest buildings, but I also learned a couple dance styles through their respective classes, which include Mongolian dance, Tibetan dance, and Dai dance. Needless to say, the classes were challenging as I am not much of a dancer myself; however, I managed to learn through the teachings of their professional dancers.
When I first arrived, the organizers/teachers picked me up, along with others at the airport and transported me to International Plaza Hotel, where I met my Uruguayan roommate who was very friendly. It turns out he was the student representative for Uruguay during this camp, and I learned all sorts of traditions about Uruguay from him. For example, Uruguay’s education system differ from ours; the secondary education system is branch based, which allows the student to focus on a specific stream of study, like science or mathematics. Much like my roommate, the other students/campers were very kind and welcoming. I quickly became friends everyone in my group.
There are many things I’ve never experienced in Canada, which I’ve encountered in China. Firstly, when placed in a hotel, I was much closer to my friends and I could go talk to them in person, since their rooms are only a couple steps away. This was something new to me because I was so far away from everybody in Canada, for the communities are much more spread apart. I would often have to resort to a bus or car in order to meet, and that process would often take up to an hour, while walking to another room would only take three minutes at most. Secondly, the meals everyday would be an open buffet for an hour, which includes a ton of dish variety; there would be easily more than twenty options. This was a luxury had it happened at home, for a single family couldn’t finish that many dishes and they would go to waste after the meal. Thirdly, the schedule for each day would be packed full of activities. It would either be visiting a tourist attraction or learning new types of dances, often for three hours at a time. Going from action packed days in Beijing, to days full of study and play in Canada will surely be a difficult transition.
Although I was sad that I would never see the other people attending the camp again for the reason that they live on opposite ends of the world, this summer camp was absolutely terrific and if I was given another chance, I would definitely go again.
