Ontario wireless market heats up

Over the past months, there are bunch of new wireless companies opening business or expanding business in Ontario.

These new players promotes very attractive plans like unlimited calls, unlimited text, unlimited internet etc.

They are:
-Windmobile (windmobile.ca) $17.5 *half price for 6 months unlimited calls, $35 after 6 months; 27.5 half price for 6 months unlimited calls, $55 after 6 months
Windmobile is the largest among these new players. and Huawei provides all system equipment and some Huawei cell phones. It is available in Ottawa now.

-Mobilicity (mobilicity.ca) $35 unlimited calls, $40 unlimited internet access
-Publicmobile (publicmobile.ca) $24 unlimited calls


Plus previous Buinsess rebrand/resale brands like
7-11's Speakout (Rebrand from Rogers)
Petro cell (Rebrand from Bell Mobility)

Consumer will see lots of competition and get benefits from such competition.

Windmobile did massive marketing in Ottawa area. Last time I heard from radio that Windmobile erects their own base stations in Ottawa.

Anyone recently registered in windmobile? How is the quality of wireless calls/data and customer services?

Yes it can work on IPhone. Cusomer just needs to bring "Unlocked" GSM/UMTS phone to avoid buying new phone there.

It runs on UMTS/GSM network.

Supported by Huawei's cost effective system equipments, Windmobile will have explosive market growth, and impose big threats to Rogers/Telus/Bell.

$17.5 unlimited calls(outgoing local and all incoming calls) for 6 months?

$17.5 unlimited call promotion used to end in June, now extended to July 10. I may take serious consideration on this plan.

No obligation, I heard it is month by month plan, no 2 year or 3 year contract bullsh*t.

Fido/Rogers/Telus/Bell will be mad!!!!

Wind Mobile 3G network 用的是 UMTS AWS HSPA 1700M/2100M 频段, 和
Rogers/FIDO/Telus/Bell 的UMTS频段不一样. Wind Mobile 和其他big 4大部分手机在3G业务不能互换.只有 少部分4频UMTS 手机(Sony X10,etc)可以通用, or cell phones bought from US T-Mobile.

IPhone 目前 不能支持UMTS AWS HSPA 1700M/2100M

This HTC Maple should be a kind of intelligent cell phone. No idea about its performance. Not sure how these intelligent cell phone works for Email. Blackberry's Email did very well.

If you don't care data option, only talk&SMS, Huawei's phone on sale ($130-$40) may be good.

Huawei's phone 70块是个很好选择。
但HTC Maple有GPS，WIFI 而且还能放dvix电影。

我的一个手机刚换装成华为的 , 这号码主要是voice call, 所以华为的正合适.

Porting number非常快,3小时搞定,
3个月后wind 可以免费unlock.
,顺路也算支持民族工业一吧.
