Because we were happy with British rule - it is quite obvious, isn't it? We were ruled by a government that was elected by universal suffrage in the UK, and that government was accountable to the British people - and HKers were also British. We were treated far better than how your government treats your colonials in Xinjiang, Tibet or Inner Mongolia.

Why do you think there was a flood of immigrants from HK into Canada in the 1990s? "To find a better life"? - the euphemism that Canadians like to use to mean "escaping from third world countries"? No, it was due to the imminent change of takeover of Hong Kong by China.

I've seen people like you with this kind of attitude at work, bent over to the whites but indifferent sometimes even hostile towards Chinese mainlanders. They feel like they are somehow superior. Most of those came here prior to 1997.
One thing I fail to understand is that you guys can not tell the difference between Chinese government and average Chinese people. You do know Chinese government is not democratically elected, do you? So your hostility and hatred upon the Chinese people instead of their government just show that you are not that intelligent either.

相对来说，我对台湾的心理距离更近一些，虽然香港离大陆更近。
首先语言上的认同感，我认识的台湾人都说国语，我认识的香港人都说鸟语。
然后是文化上的认同感，台湾在坚持中国传统文化上，甚至超过现在的大陆。而香港是一个没有文化的地方，除了流行歌，还是流行歌。
最后是人种上的认同感，认识的台湾人里不乏高大帅气的俊男美女，到底当年老蒋是带过去了上百万的人，相对来说也算当时的精英了。而香港人是我见过的最萎缩的人群（包装过明星们不算），形体和气质很差劲，和越南人更类似一些。
我想香港人也是同样不认同大陆的，现在不过是人在屋檐下而以。
结论就是：我才不会管他们去死，反正现在那里也驻军了，另外在经济上，香港也已经是深圳的附庸。就让他们去折腾好了。
穷折腾，折腾穷，这可是千古不变的道理。大陆从前折腾过，台湾也被民进党折腾过，香港当然不该 MISS ALL　ＴＨＥ FUN。

The more I hear about news like that, the more I feel that immigrating to Canada is a mistake. I think my life will be happier if I live somewhere where everybody is of the same race as mine.

After having lived here for 20 years or so, I am tried of navigating through racial issues every day. Race factors permeates through every facet of life in this country, be it at work, at school, making friends, dealing with neighbours, the police or even your health care providers. What a waste of time and energy!

I only represent myself, I detest HK parasites, since long long time ago. Whenever I got chance, I would be more than happy to beat the shit out of those scum bags, either physically or psychologically.

For god sake, HK couldn't even survive a day without pumping fresh water from mainland.
From my point of view, they were just parasites and beggars, nothing more, nothing less.
