General formula for government employee pension:

No. of years of service X 2% X Maximum Average of 5 consecutive years of Income

If you retire after the age of 60, you will get this amount.
If you retire before the age of 60, the magic number applies. That is, if your retirement age plus your years of service is less than 85, for every year less your pension is discounted by 5%.

Example: You have 28 years of service and you want to retire at 55. Since you have not reached 60, and 28+55=83 is 2 years short of 85, your pension is 56%X(100-5X2)%=56%X90% of your best 5 consec. years average income.

Important note: If you have prior service in private industry, try to find out right away if you can buy back those years. No matter how expensive you think now, it is still worth buying back. This is speaking from personal experience.

The implied question you have: Can you live on with less than a full 70% pension?
The answer is definitely yes. I retired with 31 years service and I live comfortably. The reason is: Your take home pay while working is reduced by all sorts of deductions: superannuation, union dues.. You expense is less: transportation, lunches, clothes.
And your pension income is supplemented by CPP when you are over 60.

Question?

Who can answer this question?

After retirement, do we get same pension and other benifit from Gov. if we move out of Canada, such as, live in China, or US?

May I ask a question?
let's say if I worked for the public service for 30 years. and I retired.
the pension should be 60%, is there any other extra money I could get after 65 years old?

Yes, at the age of 60 you can start collecting CPP (Canada Pension Plan) and at the age of 65, OAS (Old Age Security) starts to kick in. But don't forget there is a clawback which means if your pension is above a certain amount, at age 65, your CPP will be reduced.

Your pension including CPP is universal, that is whether you continue to live in Canada or not you are entitled to it. However, being a non-resident if you choose to live elsewhere after retirement, Revenue Canada will deduct a flat rate tax on your pension, usually in the order of 25% but varies from country to country.

68% is only short 2% of 70%. I only have 62% and am living quite happily!.... that is assuming you maintain the same lifestyle as before.
