Do I need a special TV to see 3D?

As is the case with 2D television, the 3-D viewing experience will be enhanced by watching on a HD television set with a digital broadcast signal, but viewers watching on an older standard definition set will also be able to enjoy the 3-D experience.
For viewers watching on HD televisions - make sure that your set is set-up for a wide screen or 16:9 presentation.
For viewers watching on older standard definition sets, our signal will be “letterboxed” so you will see a horizontal bar on top and below of the picture and you will not have to make any screen adjustments.

When and where can I get the 3D glasses?

How to obtain the best 3-D experience while watching Queen Elizabeth in 3D
  • If you have never viewed a 3-D image before, it can take a few seconds for your eyes to adjust to the stereo imagery.
  • Sit directly in front of the TV.
  • Dim or turn off lights in your screening room.
  • Make sure there are no intrusive reflections on the screen (usually caused by table lamps).
  • If you normally wear prescription glasses to watch TV, put your 3-D glasses OVER your prescription glasses.
  • Check that your 3-D glasses are clean. Remove dust, finger prints or any blemishes.
More about 3D

The 3 Dimensional effect you are looking for is that sense of depth and separation from 3 layers: foreground, mid-ground and background. It's the nature of 3D motion pictures that where you sit in relation to the screen will change how you feel about the experience. The optimal seating position is normally directly in front of the screen. It is important to try to maximize your field of view.

Can all people see 3-D?

  • 5% of the population cannot see 3-D
  • Viewers without coordination between the left- and right eye cannot see 3-D.
  • Viewers using eyeglasses with a HUGE difference in prescription for the left- and the right eye cannot see 3-D.
  • Viewers with one eye cannot see 3-D.
  • Finally most colorblind viewers will be able to see the 3D effect – but should expect a reduced color spectrum.
