I used to have a Cuisine electric kettle (I paid about $86+tax from DirectBuy). After a year, the kettle no longer worked. I bought another kettle from Costco and that kettle is still working after 3 years.

Sometimes, good brand only gives you the LOOK. Reliability is an issue.

This Group Buy thing sounds good. How does it work? Do you pay extra for the person who orangizes the Group Purchase event? Or the dealers pay commission to the organizer?

I was DirectBuy member for 10 years. I don't think I got my money back from the membership. If you have a new house, or an old house that you need to do renovation, then it may be something for your consideration. Otherwise, negotiating with the dealer or group buy is recommended.

As long as you pay less than what you would have paid without group buying, why do you care if the organizer got paid?
