After I posted a song by Seekers in another 贴, I continued listening to the other Seekers' songs. Now I realize why people heap praises on Judith Durham. Here's a song I wasn't familiar until now. A slow soulful take that makes you feel a voice from heaven:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBHm30SxxtE"]‪The Seekers ~ 'All Over The World' 1966 Stereo‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]

All Over the World

Bb Cm Eb Cm F
All over the world, people must meet and part;
Eb F Bb
There's someone like me feeling the pain in their heart.
Bb Cm Eb Cm F
Some may meet again under that same white star,
Eb Cm F D Bb
If maybe some night you come back from afar.
Eb Cm F D Bb
Who cares if tonight I don't know where you are?

Bb Cm F
Are you thinking of me now,
Bb Gm
Missing having me around?
Cm
If you have forgotten me,
D Gm F
My world will come tumbling down.

Bb Cm Eb Cm F
All over the world, others are sad tonight;
Eb F Bb
There's someone like me watching the sun's fading light.
Bb Cm Eb Cm F
All over the sky there is the same warm glow;
Eb Cm F D Bb
Here under that star I'm wanting you to know,
Eb Cm F D Bb
Wherever you are, that I still love you so.

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh a beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
oh and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight life
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lies
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe
in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

About 12 or 13 years ago, I had a chance to visit the theatre district in London after a week of attending a work related international meeting. By chance I noticed who was playing the lead role in the Broadway play Sunset boulevard. It was Petula Clark. Her song Downtown was one of the songs that was played in my dorm room many many times. After so many years I was very excited to see her in person. Glenn close had the lead role when Sunset Boulevard was debuted in Broadway. Glenn Close is a fantastic actor but I was more intrigued by Petula Clark. So up I went with a colleague and headed over to to the theatre in London. I was very impressed with her acting and seeing her all these years I was enthralled. Her voice was still clear and strong. To this date I am still in love....in love of her singing.

Why is my heart so light?
Why are the stars so bright?
Why is the sky so blue
Since the hour I met you?
Flowers are smiling bright
Smiling for our delight
Smiling so tenderly
For all the world, you and me
I know why the world is smiling
Smiling so tenderly
It hears the same old story
Through all eternity
Love, this is my song
Here is a song, a serenade to you
The world cannot be wrong
If in this world there is you
[Chorus:]
I care not what the world may say
Without your love there is no day
So, love, this is my song
Here is a song, a serenade to you.

Alone Again Naturally

This song came out in 1972 and quickly climbed to number 1 in the pop chart. The uniqueness of this song lies in its lyrics.

In a little while from now,
If I'm not feeling any less sour
I promised myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower,
And climbing to the top,
Will throw myself off
In an effort to make it clear to who
Ever what it's like when your shattered
Left standing in the lurch, at a church
Where people 're saying,
"My God that's tough, she stood him up!
No point in us remaining.
May as well go home."
As I did on my own,
Alone again, naturally

To think that only yesterday,
I was cheerful, bright and gay,
Looking forward to, but who wouldn't do,
The role I was about to play
But as if to knock me down,
Reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch,
Cut me into little pieces
Leaving me to doubt,
All about God and His mercy
For if He really does exist
Why did He desert me
In my hour of need?
I truly am indeed,
Alone again, naturally

It seems to me that
There are more hearts
Broken in the world
That can't be mended
Left unattended
What do we do? What do we do?

(instrumental break)

Now looking back over the years,
And what ever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to have cried the tears
And at sixty-five years old,
My mother, God rest her soul,
Couldn't understand, why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
Leaving her to start with a heart
So badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken
And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally

A wonderful song.

It reminds me of the song below, which is also about being left alone by the beloved. Sorrowful as the preceding one, yet perhaps a bit more positive, as shown in the lovers' mutual confidence.
