急问：有收到Imperial Parking ticket的吗？你们付还是不付啊？

如题，今天不小心停车收到一张，回来在网上查了查，好像好多人都说不用管它（因为这根本不是city的ticket，是个priviate公司）。我想问问，有同胞有过类似不幸经历吗？我付还是不付啊？觉得真是亏。

That is a private company, usually hired by apartment or Mall to issue parking tickets. Since that is a private, it is very difficult to fight against them. If you don't pay, they let some company to collect unpaid tickets, it is different from City that you can appeal. There was something similar happening in Toronto that a City Councilor who went to pay the ticket and found out that was issued by private company. The company will print those tickets look very close tickets issued by City.

就是楼上说的那样，这家公司好像是专门被雇用管停车的。我是在downtown被贴的，实在是很少自己开车去downtown，没注意到那里不能停小车，倒霉。主要是它要的金额太高了，$42+，我停一天也不到这个价嘛，实在是觉得不值。所以想问问有没有argue成功的，呵呵。

Try to call them and explain your mistake (the number should be on the back of the ticket). They probably can waive the ticket if it is your firsty time.

Why don't ask city at first to see if it is legal for them to issue tickets? If it is private, why do you need to pay it?

Good point!
Illegal parking is CITY by-law.
If that company is ISSUNG tickets for many years, I doubt that is illegal.
From apartment (and mall) management point of view, they authorized that company to issue tickets, this guarantees the management company doesn't need to hire anybody to look for illegal parking in their apartment or mall, and then call City of Ottawa to come and issue tickets. The private company will do it, since ALL ticket money goes into that private company pocket. Hence, I doubt (that is the reason why there is not COURT you can appeal) you reach anybody, usually they will ask you pay the ticket first....
