Really? At least India had a woman prime minister, Indira Gandhi, in recent history. China still has a male dominated regime. Can't see a woman successor to Hu Jin Tao coming soon.
India wouldn't have a woman prime minister if she had a brother. She was elected as prime minister simply because her dad, not herself.

You are really 抬杠。 The U.S.A never had a female president, can't see a woman successor to Obama coming soon (Palin is just a clown she doesn't have a change). Are you saying USA is a "male dominated regime"?

Don't change the topic, I was talking about the unfairness in India citizenship law. Why only children or grandchildren of an Indian MAN can get the citizenship? What about the children of Indian women (with non-indian husbands)?

Yes I am 抬杠. And yes, the US is a male-dominated regime and same with China. History shows that.

No, it is not right to deprive descendants of the female side of Indian citizenship. Indian women should fight for that. But the dis-refutable fact is they did have woman prime minister and that alone was a breakthrough for womanhood.

I hope people in this forum do not underestimate the potential of India. To me, what impedes their growth is their antiquated caste system.

Going back to the question of the case for or against dual citizenship: really, there is no good data or analysis to back up either choice. Everyone here voices his/her opinion based on emotion or some gut feeling.

I think what China is afraid of is those 'citizens' overseas, if dual citizenship is allowed, may exert too much of an influence on those citizens in China by knowing too much. China cannot impose censorship/news blackout on those citizens and thereby lose the tight control they like to have.

Criminal law is independent of nationality. You are subjected to the law of the land whether you are a citizen or not.

I see no big conflict between China and India in the foreseeable future. The two so called major issues currently in the way of more cordial relationship between the two nations are Kashmir/Himalaya border issue and China-Pakistan alignment. There is so much to gain if the 2 biggest nations in Asia band together. (Americans would be so much more worried. :))

dsss: What you are concerned about dual citizenship issue is the policy towards protecting the big increase of oversea nationals. I agree it would be a huge task if an emergency evacuation is required for example.
But it is already a huge task now since Chinese nationals overseas nowadays number in millions (Those holding a Chinese passport.) That is only my estimate, not substantiated. My position is: as a nation, you do the best you can to provide a safe passage to your own citizens anyway. You can do no better than what you are capable of. To me that is good enough. But that is only a side issue.
