As far as I know, parking on the meter is NOT free on Saturday. It maybe free on Sunday.

you can go east for about 100-200 meters along Larier street, there is a parking. its free during weekend.

In Ottawa, you can go one block north along Metcalfe, there is a city's parking lot on the left which is free during weekend.

Not very sure, but at least before my store, downtown Bank Street (Bank @ Lisgar), weekday after 5:30 pm and all weekend, meters are free.

As far as I knew, for some downtown parking lots, they will not say it's free in the evening and weekend, but usually it's ok.

I always go the library at Laurier/Metcalf on weekends.
Each time, I drive to Laurier from west and park my car on the laurier, just the other side of the street to the library.
