Teens jailed one day for deadly beating

Two Winnipeg teens have been given a one-day jail sentence for a deadly beating at the Icelandic Festival in Gimli, Man., in August of 2008. The 19-yearolds, who can't be named because they were youths at the time, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the attack that killed Martyn Hendy, 29. Crown and defence lawyers struck a deal in which they jointly proposed a oneday sentence to be counted as their appearance in court last Friday. The killers were also given the maximum period of three years supervised probation.
