通过CIBC可以申请VISA卡,其实这2个卡都差不多,如果你换卡,那你原来的信用记录就有中断了。

What's your credit rating?

It's important to find out your rating because a bad credit bureau report not only affects credit, it can hurt your chances at securing employment, getting an apartment and many other areas of your life.

Under consumer legislation governed by each province, you are entitled to a copy of all the information a credit agency has on you. But it is not an easy task. The credit bureaus exist mainly to protect businesses and banks from consumers.

There are three credit reporting agencies in Canada: Equifax, Northern Credit Bureaus and Trans Union. But don't phone them.
The credit bureau is obligated to review your complaints.
If you want a copy of your credit report, mail or fax a request with copies of two pieces of identification to the companies. In a couple of weeks, they will mail your report to you. You could also go to their offices and ask to see your report.

The service is free.

You can dispute errors in your report. Information on how to dispute bad information is included in the written credit report you will receive from the bureau.

The credit bureau is obligated to review your complaints, however you must supply all the material they ask for on their forms. The forms, which accompany your personal credit report, explain how to file disputes and get corrections made. It can be a drawn out process, but be persistent.

If the credit bureau won't correct your file, ask them to mark the file "in dispute." You may also exercise your right to have a statement (100 words or less) inserted into your credit report to explain your side of the story to potential creditors.
A final note: if you cannot get the agency to make changes, you may want to contact your provincial consumer department. Some provinces, such as Ontario, have a registrar of consumer reports who deals specifically with this issue.

If you have been inconvenienced, denied service or turned down for something because of an erroneous report, you have the right to sue. In addition, each province has fines for bureaus that knowingly provides false information or contravene the act.

What Your File Contains:
1. Personal Identification: name, address, birthdate and your Social Insurance Number

2. Inquiries: lists of individuals and companies that have requested a copy of your file in the past three years

3. Public Record Information: secured loans, bankruptcies and/or judgements

4. Collection Agencies: any involvement with a collection agency trying to settle a debt

5. Trade Information: provides details of your credit transactions, whether payments are being made

6. A rating or score is given from "R0" to "R9" (see table below for explanation)

What should not be on your file:
non-payment of rent
information about race, colour, religion,
criminal charges not resulting in conviction
criminal charges older than seven years
credit information older than six years ― except bankruptcy

What affects your score?
how much you are paying on your accounts
how much you currently owe
how long your accounts have been open
what different types of credit you use
how much credit you use compared to the amount available to you
how often and how recently you have applied for credit
Here is a guideline on what your rating means:

NUMBER RATING
R0 Too new to rate; approved but not used
R1 Pays within 30 days of billing, or pays as agreed
R2 Pays in more than 30 days but less than 60 or one payment past due
R3 Pays in more than 60 days but less than 90 or two payments past due
R4 Pays in more than 90 days but less than 120 or three or more payments past due
R5 Account is at least 120 days past due but is not yet rated R9
R6 No rating exists
R7 Paid through a consolidation order, consumer proposal or credit counselling debt management program
