Analyst raises concerns over Nortel's liquidity

"We are increasingly concerned about Nortel's liquidity given deteriorating conditions," UBS analyst Nikos Theodosopoulos wrote in a note to clients.
"We would expect Nortel to get more aggressive with its restructuring efforts in order to prop the business model, particularly as the environment toughens," Theodosopoulos wrote.
However, he added: "The company will most likely also have to contend with cash restructuring charges, including severance, limiting the total benefit."

The way NT dropped looks like bleeding continuously without sign of stop.
It will go to $1 below after NT Q3 ER.

NT even hit 0.99 today (Oct 28) before Q3 ER. What a bloody fact it is.

NT is only for gambling.

I bet small.

There are lots of rumors around, Huawei, Ericsson, IBM, etc. What makes perfect economic/market sense is Chinese buyer. However most Nortel stake holders dislike Chinese involved. I really doubt Ericsson will acquire MEN under such uncertainty. Ericsson or other western player's best interest is to buy Nortel the way like Air Canada was undergoing in the past years.

Who the hell wants to pay Nortel pension deficit? Who the hell wants to pay millions of dollars to stupid Nortel manager's layoff package?

I bet Nortel will hit $0.5 to $0.6 next Monday if there is no buyer for MEN announced then.

It is just my 2cents, your money your decision.

　　新浪科技讯 北京时间11月10日消息，据国外媒体报道，北电网络今天发布了2008财年第三季财报，受经济危机等因素的影响，北电第三季度亏损34亿美元。北电同时还宣布将裁员1300人。

　　受经济危机、竞争的加剧以及客户消费开支下降等因素的影响，北电网络第三季度净亏损34.13亿美元，合每股损失6.85美元，而在去年同期北电盈利2700万美元，合每股0.05美元。

　　北电网络总营收23.2亿美元，较去年同期下滑14%，较上一季度的26.2亿美元下滑了12%。这一业绩符合分析师预期，路透财经调查显示，分析师此前预计北电第三季度营收为23.1亿美元。

　　今年9月，北电下调第三季度收入预期至23亿美元，低于此前估计的26.6亿美元，原因是认为其电信和企业客户将进一步缩减资本开支。受此消息影响，北电当天股价大跌49.43%。

　　北电同时还宣布将裁员1300人。这是2月份以来，北电第二次宣布裁员计划。分析师此前预计，北电本次将裁员3000至5000人。

　　此外，为节省开支，北电还将对公司进行进一步重组，冻结工资并停止2009年之前的新员工招聘等。加上原先公布的重组计划，北电预计将从2009年开始每年节省4亿美元成本。 (古海)
