As a digression, I read a book several years ago. It is actually a historical novel based on the life of Joey Smallwood. The title is " The Colony of Unrequited Dreams".

Anyone with an interest of Canadian or specifically Newfoundland politics should read. You will also glean how Newfoundlanders lived in those years, a bleak landscape but still full of natural beauty.

Joey Smallwood dominated Newfoundland politics for many years during which he won 6 consecutive terms.
