Freezing rain causing pile-ups on Ottawa roads and beyond

Icy conditions caused a tractor-trailer to collide with three other vehicles on Greenbank Road between Fallowfield and West Hunt Club roads, leaving one person trapped in a vehicle and three others injured shortly after 5 p.m. Emergency crews on scene were able to extricate the lone occupant from the vehicle without the need for heavy equipment. Greenbank Road has been closed down in both directions for the foreseeable future. Paramedics say two people in their 50s suffered minor neck and back injuries. They are in stable condition in hospital. Two other individuals from one of the other vehicles are being treated at the scenen for minor injuries. Thye driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.
