Overnight windstorm leaves thousands in the dark

OTTAWA — Power outages that began overnight persist in some areas of Ottawa due to high winds gusting at up to 60 kilometres per hour. More than 2,000 Hydro Ottawa customers were still without power Monday morning, mainly along Somerset Street West in Chinatown and in the zone north of that up to Albert Street. There are also outages near Dow’s Lake and the Experimental Farm.
