University of Ottawa rises in world rankings as other Canadian schools fall

OTTAWA — The University of Ottawa has jumped 14 places in a prestigious ranking of world universities by a British magazine, bucking a trend that saw most top Canadian universities decline. In Times Higher Education’s 2012-13 rankings, released Wednesday, the Ottawa university jumped to number 171 in the world, up from 185 last year, when it cracked the top 200 for the first time.
