Firefighters are battling a two-alarm blaze Tuesday morning at a home in Stittsville.
Officials said the fire started on the exterior of a two-storey family home, at 5 Bell St., and spread into the upper level.
As of 8:35 a.m., firefighters said the main body of the fire is extinguished. They said heavy smoke was coming from the eaves and they suspect fire may have spread into the attic.
They were initially told there was a dog in the home, but a search showed the dog had made it to safety.
Firefighters said the main floor was clear and just after 8:40 a.m. they began searching the second floor for occupants.
More to come.
