A Tuesday morning fire caused an estimated $40,000 in damage and left one fireman with minor injuries to his hand.
Ottawa Fire Services was called to 1455 Heatherington Rd. following a call from an alarm company.
When crew members arrived, at around 10:40 a.m., there was smoke in the lobby and flames in the laundry room of the building.
Firefighters soon extinguished the fire and ventilated the residual smoke.
The evacuated residents are being sheltered on a bus provided by OC Transpo.
The cause remains unknown.
