Ottawa police say four Alta Vista schools went into “secure mode” and locked their doors Thursday after reports of an armed man in the area.
The alert was lifted after about two hours, just after 1 p.m., after no weapons were found.
Police say the call came in at around 11 a.m. after three boys said they saw the man, prompting the schools to go into “secure mode.”
Police set up a perimeter near two of the closed Alta Vista schools, Charles H. Hulse and Ridgemont High School, near Heron Road and Ayers Avenue.
Police are still investigating the incident.
The Hulse school was the scene of a similar incident in June. No weapon was found and there were no arrests.
