An investigation is continuing after two schools in the Village of Lanark were locked down Wednesday morning after a man was spotted carrying a crossbow nearby.
The man’s “location and behaviour” set off alarm bells.
Lanark County OPP responded at 9:10 a.m. to the village about 80 km southwest of Ottawa and Maple Grove Public School and Scared Heart of Jesus Catholic School were put into lockdown mode.
The schools went into “hold and secure” mode when police arrived and things were back to normal by 10:37 a.m.
Police had learned that the man was picked up in a passenger vehicle and left the scene just before officers arrived.
No one was injured or threatened but the investigation is “active and ongoing,” police said.
