Quote from the invoice from Tolga: "All complete systems sold by Tolga Computer Systems Inc. include a one-year parts/two-year labour warranty."
We bought the computer last year in August. When we bought it, the store salesperson cheated us twice by changing brandname of hard-drive and then sold us a sound card and a network card which were already included on the motherboard (which caused hardware conflicts later on when we installed software)!
On July 13 2003, we turned on the computer, it was making a huge noise so we shut it down. We found out the store was not open on Sunday. We opened the computer and tried to clean the CPU fan. We loosed the retention lock of fan to clean(the hooks still in retention holes), put down the retention lock and turned on the computer but got "system failed CPU test" msg.
Following Monday we took it to Tolga. The tech said some CPU pins were bent. He said the CPU adhered to the fan so when we loose the retention lock the CPU came with it and was therefore moved(should this happen? is this our fault?).
According to store rule, if we moved the CPU, the CPU was not their prob any more and we should pay $35 for this check. We agreed to take the responsibility of CPU but insisted to see if motherboard is OK. We argued and finally the tech agreed to check motherboard with their “standard CPU” but we had to pay $35 for this. When we went back to the store and paid $35, he said the motherboard was tested OK. Since we had/heard many bad experiences with Tolga, we said we need to see and believe. He said no showing unless we pay another $35! We had to come home and mailed the “dead CPU” to Intel and Intel mailed us a brandnew one.
We went to Tolga and asked tech to install it. He said there'd be $60 charge. We said too expensive and went to FutureShop. FutureShop got "system failed CPU test" msg when installing the CPU. We said it couldn't be dead cuz it's brandnew so they made an effort to borrow a compatible motherboard to test the CPU and it’s working fine! FutureShop only charged $40+tax while Tolga would charge $60+35! We hurried back to Tolga but tech said the motherboard was OK last time so FutureShop damaged it! Now motherboard is not their prob any more!
During the whole process, we complained to the store manage(whose name is Tolga), so guess there is no more manager we can complain to.
We filed the case on BBB but got a letter from BBB saying "a copy of your letter was sent to the company as a letter of criticism due to the fact that it is outside the scope of the Bureau's operations"
